Overview

Under the direction of the Dean of Business and General Education, this part-time instructional position will provide instruction in Economics.

Responsibilities

  1. Facilitation of Learning. Plan, prepare and deliver instruction and facilitate the learning of students. Assess the learning outcomes of students at the unit and course level.
  2. Classroom Management. Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
  3. Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
  4. Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.  
  5. Interpersonal/Team Skills. Participate in activities of the instructional team, including planning, development, scheduling, and budgeting as a cooperative and professional team player.
  6. Student Support and Guidance. Support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals. Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.
  7. Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and utilizes alternative   delivery methods.
  8. Remain current on curriculum content in the discipline and use of continuous quality improvement techniques to update content and foster current evidence-based program  assessment and improvement.
  9. Develop and update or revise course curriculum as needed to maintain program relevance.
  10. Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught, and work cooperatively with members of other departments and programs in coordinating courses.
  11. Work cooperatively with library staff in the selection of reference materials and coordination of library reference work for maximum utilization of library and other resources.
  12. Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
  13. Meet Wisconsin Technical College System requirements through the Faculty Quality Assurances System.

Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in Economics or a related field. At least 18 graduate credits in the content area of economics is required.
  2. Skill in communication and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds.
  3. Proficiency in computer use and applications which support teaching and learning.
  4. An educational philosophy which places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery, and evaluation of courses.
