Overview

Blackhawk Technical College is seeking qualified candidates to instruct in our Agribusiness Science and Technology Program for the Spring of 2018 Semester.  Seeking instructors to teach Livestock Management and Precision Ag Technologies.

Responsibilities

  1. Plan, prepare and deliver instruction and facilitate the learning of students, ensuring opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
  2. Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
  3. Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to inclusion.
  4. Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, equipment security.
  5. Participate in activities of the instructional team, including planning, development, scheduling, and budgeting as a cooperative and professional team player.
  6. Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Assist students outside of class, as necessary, and collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff members to help students learn and succeed.
  7. Support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.

 

Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Animal Science preferred, or earned Masters in a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Animal Science required. 
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or related field with Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) or Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg) designation considered with work experience to teach Crop Management, Emerging Ag Technologies, Contemporary issues in Sustainability, and Commercial Drivers Training (Commercial Drivers License Required).
    • Bachelor Degree in Animal Science or related field with certificate in Livestock Nutrition considered with work experience to teach a livestock nutrition course.
  2. Minimum of five (5) years of full-time recent and related occupational experience.  Minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience within Agribusiness field of which at least one year (2,000 hours) shall be within five years prior to date of appointment.  One year (2,000 hours) of related occupational experience may be waived if the applicant has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within five years prior to the date of appointment (two years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight semesters of part-time teaching or four semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution).
  3. Proficiency in computer use and applications, which support teaching and learning.
  4. An educational philosophy, which places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery, and evaluation of courses.
  5. Meet Wisconsin Technical College System requirements through the Faculty Quality Assurances System.
