  • Overview

    The Adjunct Foundations of Teacher Education Instructor is responsible for providing teacher education instruction. Instruction is at the Janesville campus and will include online instruction, embedded instruction in program courses, facilitating accelerated programs, and teaching evening courses. The position will report to the Dean of Business & General Education.


    We are seeing to engage part-time instructors in several course offerings including:  Techniques for Reading & Language Arts, Introduction to Educ. Practices, Child & Adolescent Development, Overview of Special Education, Guiding and Managing Behavior, Techniques for Science, Support Students with Disabilities, and Practicum Experience.


    1. Facilitation of Learning. Plan, prepare and deliver instruction and facilitate the learning of students in the Foundations of Teacher Education Program. Assess the learning outcomes of students at the unit, course, and program level.
    2. Classroom Management. Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
    3. Interpersonal/Team Skills. Participate in activities of the instructional team, including planning, development, scheduling, and budgeting as a cooperative and professional team player.
    4. Student Support and Guidance. Support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.
    5. (If applicable) Curriculum Development. Develop, revise, and continually update curriculum and instructional materials, which are competency-based, current, consistent with employer expectations, and aligned with the college policy on level of required documentation.
    6. Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
    7. Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
    8. Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.
    9. Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught, and work cooperatively with colleagues at the College.
    10. Participate in staff development activities.
    11. Attend advisory committee meetings, department, and division and faculty meetings, when possible.
    12. Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
    13. Assist Director in other duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. Master’s Degree in Education or related discipline.
    2. Minimum of five (5) years of full-time experience in K-12 environment.
    3. Proficiency in computer use and applications that support teaching and learning.
    4. An educational philosophy, which places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery, and evaluation of courses.
    5. Must meet Wisconsin Technical College System certification requirements and be willing to maintain such certification.


    Desired Qualifications:

    1. In addition to the above noted minimum qualifications
      1. Has current Professional Educators License
      2. Has Special Education Certification(s)
