  • Overview

    As the Welding Instructor you will provide instruction in within our Welding Program in the Flexible Delivery Format. Position will report directly to the Dean Manufacturing, Apprenticeship, Technology and Transportation.

     

    Position will be posted as open until filled.  We will begin review of applicants on Monday, December 4, 2018.

    Responsibilities

    1. Lead instruction and student assessment, ensuring students are working toward the competencies of defined course and program learning outcomes.
    2. Collaborate with Business & Industry and Secondary Education to ensure the development of a high quality students for professions within the Welding Industry.
    3. Collaborate with instructors, advisors and staff in a team effort to help drive student success in the new teaching and learning environments.
    4. Develop curricula, assessments, lab projects and assess other materials, enhancing this student centered flexible technological learning approach, including on-line, face-to-face and project-centered lab environments.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. Associate Degree in Welding or Journeyworker within Welding.
    2. Current American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and/or Certified Welding Educator (CWE) desired.
    3. Experienced in GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SMAW, OFC, PAC, and CAG.
    4. Experienced in fabrication equipment operation. (e.g. band saw, shear, and press break)
    5. Experienced in measurement, layout, fixuring, and blueprint reaading.
    6. Experienced with forklift and crank operation.
    7. Familiarity with CAD (Solidworks) CAM (MasterCam), or other drafting software.
    8. Minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience within engineering related field of which at least one year (2,000 hours) shall be within five years prior to date of appointment. One year (2,000 hours) of related occupational experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within five years prior to the date of appointment (two years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight semesters of part-time teaching or four semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution).
    9. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for 4+ hours.

     

    Desired Qualifications:

    1. Pipe Welding and Stainless Steel Welding experience desired.
    2. Previous post-secondary education experience and/or technical writing skills.
    3. Ability to perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on welding and fabrication equipment.
