  • Overview

    Blackhawk Technical College is currently seeking a motivated Server Administrator (Systems Engineer) to join our team. The Server Administrator plays a pivotal role in the college’s IT Systems and will be responsible for the Server Infrastructure as well as our Microsoft Exchange Environment. We are looking for an individual that gets excited about Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, Windows Server and the design, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of those systems. You will be working in a highly collaborative team focused on maintaining and improving upon the IT Systems. You will be working in a fast-paced but casual office environment with strong emphasis on goals and work life balance.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    • Windows Server Design, Implementation, and Administration.
    • Installing and Monitoring Operating systems for performance, availability, fault tolerance and security.
    • Provide technical support for Microsoft Active Directory, E-mail, and Enterprise Anti-Virus/spam.
    • Develop and maintain documentation
    • Provide guidance regarding status of server, application, or system problems, and escalate problems to appropriate team member for resolution.
    • Participate in change management process to coordinate and deliver new or changed server resources. Coordinate ITS change process.
    • Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution
    • Provide customer support and assistance via telephone and personal contact with customers.
    • Provide backup and cross functional support to Infrastructure team members as needed.
    • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software for possible purchase and use within the college.
    • Position will be part of the on-call rotation for afterhours support

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    1. Expert knowledge of server installation, configuration, security, and administration.
    2. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time, schedule work activities and manage multiple priorities effectively.
    3. Strong commitment to customer service with an ability to positively interact with a wide variety of people including co-workers, colleagues, students and the general public on an ongoing basis.
    4. Ability to use the IT help desk incident management system and project management tools.
    5. Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, as well as, Office 365, Azure AD, ADFS, end-point & server security.
    6. Demonstrated knowledge and technical skills in supporting network connectivity.
    7. Technical certifications such as MCITP, MCTS and VCP are a plus.
    8. Experience in Microsoft PowerShell Experience desired.

    Education & Experience:

    1. Associate’s Degree in IT related field. (Bachelor’s Degree in IT related field preferred)
    2. Server Microsoft certification desired.
    3. Three (3) years Server Administrator Experience.
    4. Three (3) years working in an Enterprise IT environment.
    5. Four (4) years information technology experience with recent experience installing and maintaining servers Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016.
    6. Three (3) years’ experience supporting Windows operating systems/ MS office.
    7. Experience with exchange and office 365 a plus.
