Overview

Position is the lead campus supervisor covering weekend needs at the Central Campus. This includes oversight to scheduled security officers, responding to calls for service; and investigating complaints. If qualified to be armed, position will lead the Armed Response. Interacts with all staff, students, and College leadership, local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and appropriate agencies on matters related to safety and security. 

 

Position will also cover vacation and evening coverage within the Security Office. 

Responsibilities

  1. Provide weekend campus leadership to ensure security and safety at Central Campus.
  2. Respond to calls for service and investigate complaints.
  3. Active involvement in observation and monitoring of College operations during weekend hours to include interaction with faculty and staff working weekends at the Central Campus location.
  4. Follow guidelines for use in emergencies (such as bomb threats, civil disorders, fire and building evacuation) and ensure compliance with College policies and procedures.
  5. Serve as the point of contact for emergency response information.
  6. Prepare reports relating to security or safety concerns as needed.
  7. Conduct security inspections and recommend preventative and corrective measures.
  8. Assist Facilities Department with maintenance of building lighting, security equipment, and enforce parking guidelines and policies.
  9. Assist with campus events.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  1. Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  2. Two (2) years of law enforcement experience and/or security experience. 
  3. Preferred candidates who meet the Armed Officer Credentials outlined below.
  4. Supervisory experience desired. 

 

Armed Officer Credentials, must meet 1 of the following credentials:

  • Qualified active law enforcement officer that has sworn authority as defined by the State of Wisconsin Department of Justice, Training and Standards Bureau or the federal Uniform Code of Military Justice;
  • Is a "qualified retired law enforcement officer" who is supported by their home department to meet the requirements under the Federal Standard of HR218 the "Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act"/ or
  • Is a certified and credentialed firearms instructor under the State of Wisconsin, Law Enforcement Standards District Board (LESB).
