Overview

Position provides support to the Learning Support Department, oversees day-to-day activities supporting ELL and GED/HSED activities. Assist in the Learning Center with GED/HSED students, and testing AEFL students.  Position will provide support in the afternoon and early evening hours.  Role will average 24 hours per week August - May, and then have reduced hours during summer.

 

This position will be open until filled, with a first review date of June 23, 2025.  After this date, the recruitment may close without further notice. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with intake of new ELL and GED students.
  • Create TABE tickets and help students complete registration paperwork.  
  • Assist GED/HSED and ELL students interested in attending BTC program classes by connectingthem with appropriate resources.                                
  • Assist GED students in the Learning Center with AztecLearning Software by helping them login and navigate the Aztec Program.
  • Point of contact for students interested in ELL or GED/HSED.  Explain programs available and schedule initial testing.
  • Return voicemails and emails and questions regarding programs and courses. 
  • Travel to outreach sites to proctor TABE tests for ELL students

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Excellent computer skills using MSOffice software and database management tools.
  2. Excellent customer service skills through in-person, phone and correspondence.
  3. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
  4. Ability to handle multiple projects effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  5. Work effectively both independently and as a team member.
  6. Ability to interact with diverse populations.
  7. Experience or familiarity with post-secondary education.
  8. Excellent oral and written presentation skills

 

Education & Experience: 

  1. Associate Degree in Office Technology or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  2. Two years related occupational experience.
  3. Microsoft Office Suite certification or demonstrated proficiency/experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook.)
