Coordinate the transition of students with disabilities to college environment
- Administer accommodated placement tests.
- Provide information to potential students, parents, and community agencies regarding admissions process, documentation requirements, and accommodation process.
- Develop and facilitate workshops for student transition to college environment.
- Follow up with referred and new students to encourage utilization of services and schedule accommodation planning appointments. Create and maintain a referral list.
Provide administrative support to Access and Accommodations Office
- Maintain materials for distribution to high schools, agencies, and potential students.
- Support CARE Center mission & initiatives.
- Respond to inquiries by current students, prospective students, parents, and/or staff members.
- Compile, maintain, and submit data related to grant activities including purchasing and budget oversight.
- Collaborate with Access & Accommodations Coordinator to develop and implement procedures, create forms, and fulfill grant requirements.
- Document interactions with/about students in the case management system.
- Follow FERPA guidelines and maintain confidentiality of student records.
Oversee testing accommodations
- Review testing accommodation request forms, policies, and procedures with students.
- Contact instructors, review testing process, and coordinate specific testing details for students.
- Schedule appointments and administer/proctor accommodated classroom and placement tests.
- Maintain database related to test requests, room usage and instructor contacts.
- Notify proctors at satellite locations of student requests and student accommodations.
- Collaborate with Testing Center staff to develop policies and procedures.
- Scribe tests as needed.
Maintain adaptive equipment/assistive technology
- Evaluate need for, demonstrate, and train students on use of assistive technology.
- Research and procure new equipment and software through vendors, conferences, and other sources as needed.
- Troubleshoot issues with adaptive equipment/software in collaboration with IT department.
- Remain current with adaptive technology and software trends.
- Oversee process for checking out items to students and maintain inventory.
Assist with implementation of accommodation plans
- Procure, produce, distribute, and monitor use of alternative media.
- Maintain inventory of digital media.
- Recruit, train, and monitor classroom note takers.
Provide retention activities
- Provide students individualized instruction on note taking, reading, testing, studying, organizational, and other academic strategies.
- Act as point of contact for students who need referral to Advising, Financial Aid Office, or other resources.
